Black Visions

Every piece is pervaded by the wish of knowing what the world looks like beyond the ending, the subject, the meaning on a disappearing horizon; in a world where what disappears keeps leading a life in hiding together with its supernatural effects.

The concepts of individual and identity end up both being part of the background, corroded by nihilism, trapped in a vacuum of everlasting dissatisfaction. In her Black Visions the artist sees the possibility of emphasise the ethical alterations on the behalf of individuals throughout her sculptural work; nature expresses a drastic reshaping of values that needs to be manifested throughout life’s everyday acts. New contemporary visions need to be fathom, especially because of their expression of futile and superficial existence, displacing primordial values belonging to our soul.

Valeria Dardano’s main focus is to make personality’s repressed aspects visible, especially in the stage before the language, in which every object is able to raise mysterious sensations. The actualization of the artist’s ideas is focused around a memory process, highlighting the power of oblivion, the constant exchange between visible and invisible where the real world is permanently kept at distance and where every image is unknown to itself.

The works are enlivened by the lust for the unknown and the wonder in front of what’s obscure and inexplicable, giving to the viewer a glimmer of a perished dimension forgotten in time. Perhaps, never existed. Where shapes and concepts collide and intertwine, linked to the perception of time and to the footprints left by an existence in transit on an empty space, exhorting its investigation though its twisted articulation.

Finally, the artist’s will to create an extraneous dimension, giving life to presences coming from unknown worlds, submerged and never explored, questioning the viewer on the hypothetical path that led them here, giving life to a new journey inside one’s mind.

Organic shapes come from the often hidden mudded chaos of a dimension opening the doors to the unconscious reminiscences of lost memories. Objects’ parallel lives, visions of an inexistent world, however real and alive in the darkest depth of the ego.
